CTAC Annual Kickoff
Aug 10 – Sept 24, 2020
The CTAC Art Gallery is open and is featuring new artwork from artists from the surrounding areas as well cities from across the state. Due to COVID, the board of directors felt that it was in the best interest of the community and patrons to the gallery to not host their annual membership reception in the gallery this year. In past years, this event has brought in close to 200-300 guests during the night of the reception. “We knew that it would be difficult to host an event and still practice social distancing with those possible numbers in attendance.”
There are a total of 36 artists, that combined, have 117 pieces of artwork on display and for sale. “It is always exciting to see returning artists who continue to create and bring in amazing pieces. And it is also awesome to see new artists come into the area to highlight their amazing talents. But what is best is to see those who have never entered their art into any type of exhibit. This is a wonderful opportunity to help rising artists to gain confidence in submitting their artwork for the public to see. It can be very intimidating if you have never done it before, and we like to think we provide a great stepping stone for newer artists to get their artwork displayed in a professional venue.
One of the other main reasons CTAC hosts the annual “Kick Off” is for people to sign up or renew their membership for the upcoming season. “Always moving forward, the board of directors and planning committees are working hard to ensure another successful season in the arts. Supporting CTAC through membership is more important now than in years past due to current situation that all communities and nonprofits are facing. Through membership support, Chisholm Trail Arts Council will continue to serve the community in the best way possible through their four programs: CTAC Live Concert Series, Art Education in Schools, CTAC Art Gallery, and Arts Explosion.
Chisholm Trail Arts Council is a nonprofit organization with a mission of “Promoting and Inspiring the Arts in Southwest Oklahoma”. CTAC receives support through Oklahoma Arts Council, McCasland Foundation as well support from businesses and memberships.
