The St. Louis Big Band: Bringing Vision to Life for 5 Years. The St. Louis Big Band was founded in 2010 by visionary alto saxophonist and composer Ryan Sheehan. His mission was to create a modern big band that has the energy, emotion, & passion of the great bands of yesteryear.
The Legacy: The 1930s were a time when big bands ruled the charts and over one-thousand 16-18 piece bands toured the country by train, bus, and boat playing the pop music of the day. The style was hot jazz and with vocals from artists like Peggy Lee and screaming clarinet riffs from the likes of Benny Goodman big band music quickly stole the attention of every single American regardless of age, race, or gender.
Our Goal: The St. Louis Big Band seeks to embody the spirit, energy, and passion that originally brought big band music to the forefront of popular music. We respect the past but look toward the future.
Our Music: We are known for modern interpretations of great American standards as well as unique covers of pop hits. The St. Louis Big Band is available in 9 to 18 piece formats.
